About EquityRoot
EquityRoot Housing Partners, Inc. is a Massachusetts nonprofit housing development organization established to pursue housing and real-estate opportunities that create long-term community value.

Why EquityRoot
Well-located sites are scarce, and acquiring them is often the first hurdle for new housing.
+
Building costs determine what can responsibly be built — and for whom.
=
Teachers, nurses, public employees and long-time residents are being priced out of the communities they helped build.
The gap we work in
Vacant parcels, underutilized properties and aging buildings remain throughout our communities. EquityRoot was created to work within that gap.
We believe these properties can become part of the solution when strong development execution is combined with mission-driven ownership, responsible capital, and community awareness.
Our philosophy
Mission does not eliminate the realities of development. Projects must be viable to succeed.
Our foundation
01
Community first
At the heart of EquityRoot’s mission is a commitment to the people housing is meant to serve — individuals and families seeking stability, ownership, and a stronger connection to the communities where they live and work.
Greater Boston’s housing crisis disproportionately affects working households: teachers, healthcare workers, public employees, and long-time residents who find themselves priced out of communities they helped build.
EquityRoot seeks housing opportunities that expand access to ownership and quality housing for these households — creating not just shelter, but economic opportunity and community roots.
02
Neighborhood scale
Every overlooked vacant lot, underutilized building, and underdeveloped parcel represents a missed opportunity for a neighborhood. EquityRoot is focused on exactly those properties.
We believe that thoughtful, context-sensitive development — the right building in the right place, designed with the neighborhood in mind — can strengthen communities rather than simply add density.
03
Lasting value
Housing opportunity does not create itself. It requires bringing together the right combination of property, capital, expertise, partnerships, and public resources — at the right time, in the right structure.
EquityRoot is building the institutional capacity and relationships required to identify development opportunities and move them toward implementation — creating lasting value for residents, neighborhoods, and the organization itself.
Our values
Four commitments shape how we evaluate opportunities, structure partnerships and carry projects forward.
01
We communicate honestly about opportunities, limitations, and risk — with partners, owners, communities, and lenders.
02
We treat property, capital, and community trust as resources to be managed responsibly for long-term benefit.
03
Complex housing problems require collaborative solutions. We build durable relationships across the development ecosystem.
04
Ideas matter only when they can be translated into viable projects. We are builders, not only advocates.
Leadership

President
Achille Bavoua leads EquityRoot Housing Partners and the organization’s efforts to identify development opportunities, establish institutional relationships, and build a sustainable nonprofit housing-development platform.
His approach is grounded in the belief that mission and execution must work together. EquityRoot is being built around the practical components required to create housing — property, feasibility, development expertise, financing, partnerships, and implementation — rather than approaching housing solely as a policy challenge.
As President, Achille leads opportunity sourcing, early-stage project evaluation, organizational strategy, and relationship development with housing professionals, developers, lenders, public-sector stakeholders, and community organizations.
The goal is not simply to talk about the need for housing. It is to build the relationships, capacity and projects that can create it.
